Rwandan President Paul Kagame has called for increased investment in Africa, saying the continent understood the importance of foreign direct investment on their economies.
Kagame made the call at an NBA Board of Governors Dinner held in New York on Thursday, attended by NBA club owners and executives.
“This is the moment to invest in Africa. You don’t have to wait, invest now and grow with Africa,” he said.
The 61-year-old said Africa had the ability to build a mutually beneficial relationship with the rest of the world.
He also noted that majority of the continent’s population was youthful, a clear indicator of its potential.
Various African countries have deals in place with various European and Asian nations as well as the US.
Trade relations with other continents also play a major role in the continent’s economic performance.
In his speech, Kagame noted that Africa had a lot to offer to the rest of the world, and should not just be on the receiving end.
“Africa is open to doing business with the world, they have a lot to offer but Africa has a lot to offer as well,” he said.
