Read < 1 minute

IGAD’s  observers in South Sudan have released their first report on the ceasefire  and it accuses the South Sudanese army of having launched offensives against rebels and breaking the ceasefire. The report says monitors witnessed army helicopters flying towards and engaging with rebel positions outside the town of Malakal. IGAD monitors say government’s actions need to be condemned in the strongest terms possible. Juba and the rebels have accused each other in the past of violating the terms of the ceasfire that’s meant to bring lasting peace to South Sudan.
