At least seven of the twelve high court judges shown in the film showing cases of alleged corruption in the judiciary by an investigative journalist in Ghana were suspended on Monday.
Judges were shown accepting money through intermediaries in a three and half hour film screened in the capital free of charge to the public numerous times putting pressure on Chief Justice Georgina Wood and other judicial leaders to give a public response.
Some judges in the West African country have denied the corruption allegations, filing cases in court challenging their suspension on legal basis stating the documents presented by the journalist were not made available to them.
Judiciary Council had suspended 22 junior judges earlier on, who also appeared in the video.
The Judiciary in Ghana respected for it efficiency, impartiality, the society’s safe guard and has a reputation as one of Africa’s most stable and peaceful democracy.
