Ghanaian Swansea City striker Andre Ayew has been rewarded for his fine form by being named August’s Barclays Premier League Player of the Month.
The Black Stars captain has scored three goals for his new side as they remain unbeaten and sit in fourth place with eight points from their opening four games.
Ayew, who signed on a free transfer from Ligue 1 outfit Marseille, piped team mate Batefimbi Gomis as well as Manchester City pair David Silva and Aleksandar Koralov to the award.
Also nominated for the award were Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez and Manchester United’s Chris Smalling.
Ayew and Gomis have provided all of Swansea’s seven league goals so far.
Ayew who had previously only plied his trade in Ligue one for Marseille has seemingly settled to life in England very fast.
His signature was chased by a host of clubs but he settled for the Welsh outfit.
His partnership upfront with Gomis will be very pivotal in Swansea’s post-Bony life after the Cote d’Ivoire international left for Manchester City.
