George Weah to be sworn in as Liberian president
Former football star George Weah will be inaugurated as Liberia’s new president on Monday.
The 51-year-old secured a landslide victory in last month’s election run-off.
Weah takes over from Africa’s first female president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
In a tweet to his more than 60,000 followers on Sunday night, the president-elect said: “In the future months, together, we will need to work harder than ever for Liberia to grow stronger”.
In the future months, together, we will need to work harder than ever for Liberia to grow stronger. This is our opportunity to reveal to the world the true potential of our country.
