Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang became the sixth-fastest player in Premier League history to score 50 goals.

Aubameyang scored twice in midweek, to reach 51 goals, as Arsenal beat Norwich City 4-0 in their first home match since the resumption of the Premier League.

Aubameyang, who took just 79 games to reach the milestone, however, holds the distinction of being the fastest Arsenal player to reach the mark. Arsenal’s all-time leading scorer Thierry Henry reached the milestone in 83 games followed by Ian Wright on 88 games.

Wright, Arsenal’s second all-time leading goal scorer behind Henry, took to Twitter to congratulate Aubameyang on his achievement.

“50 goals in 79 games!!!! Legendary stuff. Elite striker. Congratulations Aubameyang,” he tweeted.

The 31-year-old is not the only African player on the Premier League’s list. Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah, who plays for champions Liverpool, is joint-fifth having taken seven fewer games to reach the mark.

Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole took the fewest number of games to reach 50 goals playing in 65 games, followed by former Newcastle United striker and Premier League all-time top scorer Alan Shearer (66 games) and another former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy (68 games).
