Italian giants AC Milan produced a stunning comeback from two goals down to defeat Serie A leaders Juventus 4-2 at the Giuseppe Meazza on Tuesday.
After a goalless first half in which Milan were marginally the better side, the game sparked into life in the 47th minute when Adrien Rabiot made a fine run and smashed the ball into the net from outside the box for his first goal for Juventus.
Cristiano Ronaldo doubled Juventus’ lead six minutes later when Juan Cuadrado’s ball over the top was missed by two Milan defenders allowing Ronaldo to comfortably score his 26th league goal past Gianluigi Donnarumma from just inside the penalty box.
Milan’s fightback began the referee awarded them a penalty for a handball by Juve captain Leonardo Bonucci. Zlatan Ibrahimovic successfully converted the spot-kick in the 62nd minute.
Four minutes later, Ibrahimovic set up Côte d’Ivoire midfielder Franck Kessie who showed great footwork in the penalty box before scoring the equalizer.
The comeback was completed a minute later when Rafael Leao squeezed in a shot at Wojciech Szczęsny’s near post.
Milan made sure of the three points 10 minutes from time when Giacomo Bonaventura collected a loose pass from Alex Sandro and squared to Ante Rebic who lashed home a left-footed strike to make it 4-2.
This was AC Milan’s first league win over Juventus in seven matches and extends their unbeaten league run to five matches. This was also Milan’s second big league win in as many days following their 3-0 win against Juventus’ title rivals Lazio on Saturday.
AC Milan jumped above AS Roma to fifth in the table on 49 points while defending champions Juventus remains top of the table on 75 points, seven ahead of Lazio with seven games remaining.
