Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho rejects Benfica’s advances

Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly rejected an offer to return to coaching with Portuguese side Benfica.

Sky Sports reports that the 55-year-old felt that it was too early to return to Portuguese football at this stage of his career.

Mourinho was sacked by Manchester United on December 18, following a string of poor results which left the Red Devils at sixth place in the Premier League standings.

Following Mourinho’s dismissal, the Old Trafford outfit appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on an interim basis for the rest of the season.

Since he took charge, Solskjaer has led United to five consecutive wins, seeing the side narrow down the gap between themselves and fifth-placed Arsenal on the premiership standings.
