Female police officers create awareness on gender based violence in South Sudan

A UN women police contingent in South Sudan is tackling issues of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual abuse and gender related violence among civilians living in camps for the displaced. The 105 women make up 20% of the total police force of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan. The United Nations is now urging countries to contribute more female officers to the force
