2020 Olympic 10,000m champion Selemon Barega is on his way to Paris, in search of more gold for Ethiopia.

The 24-year-old was named to a 33-person athletics team for the East African nation. Women’s marathon world record holder, Tigist Assefa is also on the list.

At the previous Games in Tokyo, Barega beat Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei, the world 10,000m and 5,000m record holder, and world half marathon champion Jacob Kiplimo.

Amane Beriso and Megertu Alemu join Assefa in representing Ethiopia in the women’s marathon. Kenenisa Bekele, Sisay Lemma, and Deresa Geleta are the country’s male marathoners.

3000m steeplechase world record holder Lamecha Girma is also on the roster and will be aiming for his first gold at a global event after a series of second-place finishes.

The Paris Olympics will run from July 26 to August 11.
