Electoral Commission of Zambia targets to register 9 million voters
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has said that it is targeting to register 9 million voters ahead of the 2021 general elections, according to a report by a local publication.
The Lusaka Times reported that ECZ Chief Electoral Officer, Patrick Nshindano, confirmed the plans during an interview on Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC), saying that the new voter’s register will be used in the forthcoming general elections.
According to Nshindano, ECZ has put in place a robust countrywide sensitization campaign program hoping to register half of the 18 million population.
The registration is set to begin in May this year and will use three systems including mobile, online and stationary registration.
