Egypts women hitting the road and defying stereotypes
A group of women in Egypt are breaking down gender barriers, and they’re doing it on two wheels.
The women bikers have found not just an answer to the city’s chaotic congestion, but also a new way of bonding. They meet during the weekends in the upscale Zamalek district, to share their passion for riding bikes.
The group aims to support and encourage Egyptian women to use motorcycles and scooters safely in their daily lives.
Egypt is also home to the Cross Egypt Challenge an annual motorbike and scooter event that sees riders taking to their saddles from Alexandria to Cairo over 10 days.
