An Egyptian musician has composed Mauritania’s new national anthem, a move hailed by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a statement on Saturday.
Rageh Dawoud, an Egyptian renowned composer, has recently finished composing the new Mauritanian national anthem and he was honored by Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel-Aziz on Friday.
“Rageh Dawoud is an example of an Egyptian artist who highlights Egypt’s status and its leadership as a beacon of Arab culture,” said Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid in a statement on Saturday.

He added that Dawoud’s work “will long live in the heart of every Egyptian and Mauritanian.”
Egypt is known as the center of art in the Arab world, particularly in filmmaking and music.
Late Egyptian musician and actor Mohamed Fawzy, who died in 1966, also composed the national anthem of Algeria that is still present until today.
