Hosts Egypt and Ghana advanced to the semifinals of the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday after recording wins in their final group games.

Egypt edged Cameroon 2-1, thanks to goals from forward Mostafa Abdalla.

In the other group game, Ghana beat Mali 2-0. Owusu Kwabena netted twice in the 74th and 85th minutes to give the Black Meteors the crucial win.

Egypt will play the runners-up of Group B on November 19 while Ghana will face the Group B winners.

The two finalists and the winner of the third-place playoff will qualify to represent Africa at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, next year.
