Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Wednesday stressed the importance of setting a detailed plan for cooperation between the African Union and Russia including programs and projects that will achieve common interests.

In a statement, Shoukry highlighted “the mutual cooperation should consider the huge social and economic impact of COVID-19.”

His remarks came at a video conference meeting of the foreign ministers of the African Union Troika and Russia, according to the spokesperson of the foreign ministry, Ahmed Hafez.

“The meeting proves the commitment of Africa and Russia for integration in light of coordination that meets the aspiration of the people,” Hafez added.

Hafez confirmed “Egypt’s full support for the Russian-African cooperation in all sectors.”
