Egypt: 529 People Sentenced to Death in Brotherhood Mass Trial

Read < 1 minute

Egypt has opened another mass trial for supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi. 683 defendants face charges of murder and sabotage including  the Muslim Brotherhood top spiritual leader Mohammed Badie. The trial which is being held in the southern city of Minya is the same court that on Monday handed down death sentences to 528 Morsi supporters after  they were convicted of killing a police officer, attacking a police station and stealing weapons. Families of the condemned  have termed  the trial  political and tainted.
