Humanitarian organizations are pulling their workers out of West Africa. The U.S Peace Corps said it was withdrawing 340 volunteers from Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. The move comes after two of the organizations volunteers were exposed to the virus and placed in isolation.
Health officials in Nigeria are running tests on dozens of people who had contact with the country’s first known Ebola victim. They include Nigeria’s ambassador to Liberia. Authorities are also urging Nigerians to take basic health precautions. CCTV’s Deji Badmus reports
The colleagues of an American doctor who contracted Ebola have been speaking out. They say Kenya Brantly was aware of the risks when he began his work in Liberia. He worked at one of the country’s two treatment centres and confined himself after he recognised his own symptoms.
The West Africa Ebola outbreak continues to cause alarm in the region. Nigeria confirmed its first Ebola case and the first victim from Sierra Leone’s capital Freetown also died. Liberia says an American doctor in the country has now been infected. As part of measures to curb the spread of the deadly virus, Liberia has closed most of its border crossings
