The Democratic Republic of Congo has banned the adoption of children by gay couples.

The country’s senate has passed a bill which outlaws the adoption of children by same-sex couple, specifically relating to international adoptions.

The government has since 2013 blocked the departure of children adopted by foreigners, in order to investigate their wellbeing in the new countries.
