Cote d’Ivoire Presidential Poll: Some candidates already conceding defeat

Read < 1 minute

Ivorians anxiously await results of the presidential elections.

Provisional results on Tuesday show Incumbent President Alassane Ouattara was heading towards election victory.

Observers monitoring the elections declared the vote free and fair.

The African Union also expressed its satisfaction over how the elections were conducted.

Ouattara’s easy win at the polls is expected to boost the West African nation’s recently recovered status as a donor and investor darling.

Sunday’s polls were the first in country’s history not to have been marred by serious rights violations or irregularities.
