Constant Power Cuts Slowing Down Zimbabwe economy
Businesses in Zimbabwe are struggling to stay afloat with increased black outs in the country. Some businesses have decreased their hours of operations, others have made a total change of working hours, operating and night and closing shop most of day time. Industries have taken to paying more money to be assured of a more constant flow of electricity.
Small businesses in the country experience more than 16 hours of power cuts. The government is working on 14 power supply projects to ensure sufficient power coverage in the country and open opportunities of exporting the electricity in five years to come.
Zimbabwe is experiencing electricity problems due to the drop in electricity production from 2 200 megawatts to 900 mega watts due to water shortage because of the ongoing drought in the country.
