The Chinese community in Cape Town has donated funds to assist with the distribution of food in impoverished areas.

The donation took place at the Consulate-General of China in Cape Town, hosted by Chinese Consul General, Lin Jing.

The mayor of Cape Town, Dan Plato has welcomed the much needed donation.

The donation from the Chinese community was made to show solidarity with those impacted by the COVID-19 lockdown.

Many vulnerable communities are in desperate need for food parcels during this time. South Africa currently has one of the highest numbers of COVID-19 cases on the African continent.
