China trains AU staff on use and maintenance of new equipment
The Chinese government organized a training session for staff of the African Union “to transfer knowledge and skills on the operation and maintenance of diverse equipment donated by China.”
The Training of Trainers (ToT) took place at the AU Continental Logistics Base from 10 – 28 December 2018.
Around 40 trainers and trainees drawn from various organs of the AU took part in the sessions which were meant to better the continental body’s service delivery.
“The AU ToT Course in partnership with #China, on operation and maintenance of equipment saw the participation of about 40 trainers and trainees drawn from the AU, RECs/RMs, AU PSO missions and the host nation,” AU said in a Tweeter feed.
The trainees were also taught how to maintain and service the equipment donated to the AU by China.
China and the AU have partnered in various ways since the organization’s foundation in 2001.
Beijing fully funded the US $200 million AU headquarters building in Addis Ababa, opening it in a colorful ceremony held in 2012.
The building has stood tall in exhibiting Sino-African ties, which have strengthened significantly over the years.
