
China and Kenya celebrate 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations
The Chinese Embassy in Kenya on Friday held a reception marking the 55th anniversary of the founding of China-Kenya diplomatic ties.
The embassy’s Charge’d Affairs Li Xuhang praised the growing relationship between the two countries adding there was room for more cooperation. The chief guest, Raphael Tuju, commended China for its assistance in various fields. He praised Chinese firms for the commitment to corporate social responsibility.
Several students were awarded the Chinese ambassador’s scholarship, part of an annual program, and will now attend Chinese universities for further studies. A scholarship cheque of 10 thousand dollars was also handed over to a number of educational institutions.
The two countries have cooperated on trade, security and cultural exchanges with China becoming Kenya’s largest trading partner.
