In Cote D’Ivoire, a ban on skin lightening products is not stopping many women from using the dangerous chemicals. And increasingly men are using the products as well.

The practice is not only present in Ivory Coast, but widespread elsewhere in Africa, as well as in large parts of Asia.

In nearby Senegal, people mobilized against skin lightening in 2013, but failed to get a ban on products.
