This will also be the fifth time an African women’s team participates at the women’s volleyball tournament in the Olympics.
The Lionesses as they are fondly known, secured the berth after overpowering Egypt in the finals of the 2016 African Women’s Olympic Qualifiers.
The Central Africans are grouped alongside hosts Brazil, Argentina, Japan, Russia and the Republic of Korea, making Group A.
Group B comprises of The People’s Republic of China, USA, Serbia, Italy, Netherlands and Puerto Rico.
Africa will throw their support behind the Lionesses at the Summer Games that begin in August, hoping they bring home the gold medal.
