Cairo’s all-woman gas station
Filling up petrol in Cairo is no longer a task reserved exclusively for men.
A service station in the upscale neighbourhood of Maadi has for the first time hired women to work in what has been, until now, a male-dominated field.
In November of last year, Egypt’s statistics agency said that the unemployment rate edged up to 12.8 percent in the third quarter of 2015, but was lower than the 13.1 percent rate in the same period of the year before.
The statistics agency also said unemployment among 15-29 year-olds rose to 27.4 percent in the same period.
