The Central Africa Republic is investigating the circumstances under which a Sudanese diplomat was killed in the county.

C.A.R. Prime Minister Simplice Sarandji on Wednesday travelled to Khartoum to officially convey his country’s apology.

Sarandji also proposed the formation of a joint committee with Sudan to investigate the killing.

Reports indicate that President Omar al-Bashir accepted the apology.

The guard of the Sudanese Ambassador’s residence in Bangui was killed by police on Friday last week.

Khartoum thereafter summoned the C.A.R. ambassador and officially protested the incident.

Press reports quoted C.A.R government sources as saying that the guard was mistaken for a militia.

Sudan Foreign Affairs minister has stressed the incident will not affect relations between the two countries.
