Burkina Faso army storms rebel camp
Burkina Faso’s army on Tuesday evening stormed a camp of holdout rebels who refused to disarm.
Coup leader Gen Gilbert Diendere had earlier called on the ‘uncontrolled’ elements of his followers to surrender in order to avoid a bloodbath.
The army on Monday said that some of the RSP members had refused to surrender their arms and risked being forced to do so.
Nearby residents were told to stay at home for security reasons.
Witnesses say that military tanks were seen driving towards the camp and some of the presidential guard members were seen surrendering to the military police.
It is however not yet clear if there were any physical confrontations and whether there were any casualties.
