AU urges Burundi to accept troop deployment plan

The African Union says it has written to Burundi’s President Piere Nkurunzinza urging him to accept the deployment of a peacekeeping force to quell the country’s escalating unrest.

In a statement AU Commission Chair Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has stressed that there is no ulterior motive in sending the troops to the nation.
