AFCON: Madagascar Stun Uganda as Kenya Edge Out Comoros

Read < 1 minute

Madagascar delivered the shock result of the weekend in the 2015 Africa cup of nations qualifiers when they beat a visiting Uganda side 2-1. Mozambique thrashed South Sudan 5 nil as the race for a place in Morocco next year kicked off. In Nairobi, Harambee stars welcomed the Comoros with the two sides meeting for the first time competitively. The match got off to a slow pace with both sides not posing any real threat. Kenya would however open scoring in the 34th minute when Johanna Omollo’s strike from 30 yards found the back of the net. At the stroke of half time Kenya saw a goal denied due to infringement as the hosts took a 1 nil lead to the break. The second half was one of near misses and close calls as both sides failed to score as the hosts won one nil. Comoros will host the second leg at the end of the month.
