Addis Ababa hosts business delegation from China’s Shenzhen city

Read < 1 minute

Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa is playing host to a delegation of over 70 companies from China’s Shenzhen city.

It’s part of efforts to increase bilateral trade and investment opportunities in different sectors, including technology, horticulture and textiles.

Shenzhen has a reputation of being China’s top industrial and entrepreneurial city.
And Ethiopia wants to tap into that expertise — particularly in the textile and leather industries.

Although some of Shenzhen’s top companies have already set up shop in Ethiopia, this visit is expected to increase private investment to the East African country.

As Ethiopia begins its ambitious plan to construct 13 industrial zones across the country, stakeholders are hoping to not only learn from the companies in Shenzhen, but also to attract future manufacturing.
