United Nations is waiting for the rainy season to end before it deploys the multinational military force to fight the Nigerian militant group, Boko Haram. The mission that was supposed to have started three months ago has encountered several problems that has delayed it.

West African nations have come together with over 9000 troops to fight the Boko Haram insurgents. However, issues such as the weather and language barriers have cause problems for the joint force.

Nigeria’s military has to meet the deadline by the President to defeat the insurgents by the end of the year. The United Nations has asked Nigeria to address poverty which is the root cause of the radicalism because military action alone will not solve the problem.
