Tunisia announces 996 new COVID-19 cases, 10,732 in total
The Tunisian health ministry on Monday reported 996 new infections with the novel coronavirus and four more deaths, raising the total infections to 10,732 cases with 159 deaths.
A total of 200,459 lab tests have been carried out from February to September 19, of which 5.4 percent proved positive, read the statistical document of the ministry.
Tunisian Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi recently warned that new COVID-19 cases in the country were on the rise.
“To face the epidemiological situation of the country, it is imperative to coordinate efforts in the face of the second wave and to ensure the implementation of all preventive and health measures recommended and put in place by the Ministry of Health,” he said during his meeting with the provincial governors.
