The Gambian health ministry reported a record 244 COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, making the total registered COVID-19 cases to 2,116 in the west African country.

The ministry said that the 244 new cases, the highest number of cases to be recorded in a single day since March, were detected out of 725 tests.

Fourteen new discharges have been reported from the treatment centres, bringing the cumulative number of recoveries to 415, the report indicated.

The ministry announced that no additional death was reported, thus the death toll remained at 63 since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country.
