Premiership Rugby side Worcester Warriors announced that defence coach Omar Mouneimne will part ways with the English club with immediate effect after three years with the club.

Mouneimne, a former mixed martial arts fighter, joined the Warriors in 2017 as a Defence & Kicking Strategy Coach and went on to sign a two-year deal in March 2018.

In a statement, Warriors Director of Rugby Alan Solomons thanked Mouneimne for his “valuable and much appreciated service to the club” noting that the South African was at a point where he was looking for a new challenge.

“Omar’s departure from Sixways is of mutual benefit to both the club and him and is the right time for Omar to move on to other opportunities,” Solomons said.

“The club is moving in another direction and the incoming coaching staff will facilitate this by, amongst other things, the good synergy they will provide,” he added.

Mouneimne’s coaching career began in 2006 with South Africa’s Sevens team in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series. At club level, he has worked with the DHL Stormers, Isuzu Southern Kings, Pumas, Edinburgh Rugby, Lyon and the Cell C Sharks. At international level, he was defence coach of Italy.
