Sierra Leonean President Julius Maada Bio tested negative for COVID-19 after spending fifteen days in isolation, the presidency has said.
The 55-year-old and his family went on self-isolation after one of the presidential guars tested positive for the disease last month.
President Bio took to Twitter to confirm his test results.
“After my fifteen-day self-isolation period, all tests for coronavirus are negative. I am very healthy and determined as ever to fight this Corona pandemic in Sierra Leone,” he wrote.
Sierra Leone is one of 52 African countries that have reported cases of COVID-19. The West African country has registered 178 infections and nine deaths, according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.
Africa has reported more than 47,000 cases and over 1,800 deaths.
Following his COVID-19 test results, President Bio is expected to resume work from his office on Wednesday.
