Liverpool have gone a year without a loss in the English Premier League following their victory over Sheffield United on Thursday.

The Reds have enjoyed a stellar year, having last lost a game on 3 January 2019 when they went down 2-1 to last season’s Champions Manchester City.

In that period, Jurgen Klopp’s side has played 37 games, picking up 101 points.

The feat means Liverpool are only the third Premier League team to go a full year without defeat. Arsenal – whose 49 games included the entire 2003-04 season – and Chelsea (from October 2004 to November 2005) are the others.

The Merseyside club is gunning for a first Premier League title in 30 years, having opened up a 13-point gap between themselves and second placed Leicester City.

Wednesday’s win meant Liverpool have won 19 of the 20 Premier League games played so far, with the other result being a 1-1 draw against Manchester United in October.

Thursday win saw Senegal’s Sadio Mane and Egypt’s Mohamed Salah each find the back of the net to take their tallies to 11 and 10 goals respectively.

The Red’s next Premier League game will be away against Tottenham before hosting Manchester United.
