BRICS industrial, commercial cooperation becomes more diversified
The BRICS Business Council (BBC) Annual Meeting 2023 was convened on August 21 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Chen Siqing, chairman of BBC’s China Chapter, said that BRICS industrial and commercial cooperation has become more diversified following unremitting decade-long efforts, and economic and trade ties have become closer.
On behalf of the chapter, Chen said that the five members – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – should be committed to openness and inclusiveness, uphold mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, embrace innovation and work together to address risks and challenges.
The BBC was founded during the 5th BRICS Summit in Durban, South Africa in March 2013. Each BRICS country nominates five council members representing different sectors and industries.
During this year’s meeting, the five countries approved the Annual Report 2023, which sums up the work achievements and highlights of the BBC in the year with a focus on trade and investment, agricultural development and market connectivity.
Moreover, a joint statement on trade and investment was issued, which advocates boosting common prosperity of BRICS countries and Africa.
