Bayern Munich opens a football school in Addis Ababa

German football club Bayern Munich announced the opening of a football academy in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

The academy, named FC Bayern Football School, is as a result of a partnership with the Ethiopian Football Federation.

FC Bayern says the partnership also includes exchange of experience and a regular presence of youth coaches from FC Bayern to train local players and coaches in Addis Ababa.

An under-17 tournament featuring eight clubs from the Addis Ababa Football Federation is scheduled to take place on Wednesday.

Ethiopia is the first country in Africa where FC Bayern has established a football academy.

The current German champions have five other countries where it has football academies. These are in the United States, China, Thailand, Japan and Singapore.
