
Five suspects arrested, arraigned in connection to Dusit D2 attack
A Canadian national and four Kenyans arrested as part of the investigation into Tuesday’s hotel attack in Nairobi made their first appearance in court on Friday.
The suspects, identified as Guleid Abdihakim, Joel Ng’ang’a Wainaina, Oliver Kanyango Muthee, Gladys Kaari Justus and Osman Ibrahim, were brought to the Milimani Law Court under a miscellaneous application for police to complete investigations before charges can be filed against them.
Abdiahakim is the Canadian national.
A statement from the Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji said: “The team of investigators has so far covered considerable ground in the investigations and upon preliminary review of the investigations file, I am satisfied there is probable cause to continue with investigations against all suspects.”
All five suspects will remain in custody until their next court date which is set for February 18.
21 people were killed and dozens more wounded in the attack on the Dusit D2 hotel complex in Nairobi’s Westlands neighborhood.
Somalia-based terror group al-Shabab claimed responsiblity.
