Senegal’s Constitutional Court blocks two from presidential vote
Senegal’s Constitutional court on Monday blocked two prominent opposition figures from running in next month’s presidential elections, AFP news agency reports.
The two – Khalifa Sall, a former Dakar mayor and Karim Wade, an ex-minister – have been barred from the vote for misuse of funds.
According to AFP’s report, the court authorized five candidates for the election, including President Macky Sall.
The West African country will hold the election on February 24.
The other candidates are Ousmane Sonko, Idrissa Seck, Madicke Niang and El Hadji Sall.
