Liverpool manager says Naby Keita fit for Newcastle clash
Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is hopeful that Guinean midfielder Naby Keita will be available for his side’s clash with Newcastle United on Boxing Day.
Keita was forced off from the field during the Red’s 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday, but his injuries were deemed not serious.
“Nothing new [on Keita] because it is pretty early, [but] nobody said to me so far he cannot train. I expect him back in training,”Klopp said in a pre-match press conference on Monday.
Livepool currently lead the English Premier League standings with 48 points from 18 games, four more than second-placed Manchester City.
A win for the Merseyside team on Wednesday would guarantee they turn the year over at the top of the table.
In his presser, Klopp also said Trent Alexander-Arnold had returned to training and was expected to be available for Wednesday’s clash.
