Egyptian President Abdl Fattah el-Sisi arrived in Austria on Monday to begin a four-day state visit in which he is expected to meet Austrian government officials and investors for cooperation talks.

During his visit, President el-Sisi will attend a High-level Africa-Europe Forum upon the invitation of the Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria Sebastian Kurz, who holds the presidency of the council of the European Union and President of the Republic of Rwanda and Chairperson of the African Union Paul Kagame.

The Egyptian president is just one of many African leaders expected to attend the event which will be held in Vienna.

El-Sisi’s visit to Austria is the first by an Egyptian president in more than 11 years.

Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Radi said that the North African country was invited to attend the High-level Africa-Europe Forum due its significant role in Africa, especially being the next holder of the presidency of the African Union in 2019.

On the sidelines of the forum, President el-Sisi will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Austria, and cooperation agreements in various fields, including higher education, innovation and technology.

The High-level Africa-Europe Forum will be held under the theme; “Taking Cooperation to the Digital Age.”
