Ministry of Internal Security of Somalia on Sunday shut down Godka Jila’aw, a key prison in which National Intelligence and Security Agency used to detain criminals and turned it into academic facility for security forces, SONNA reported.
‘’ The Security Ministry changed the prison into academy where security forces are trained. arrested person will be searched for from police stations or central prison, they can hold accused person within 48 hours for questions and then bring to justice”, Minister of Internal Security, Mohamed Abukar Islow said in press conference.
The closure of this facility is said to be a move that the Somali Government aimed to improve conditions of the prisons and is response to complaints expressed by the people so far.
