Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday departed Beijing for state visits to the United Arab Emirates, Senegal, Rwanda, South Africa – where he will attend the 2018 BRICS Summit in Johannesburg – and Mauritius.
During his visits, President Xi will hold bilateral talks with the various Heads of State; President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (U.A.E.), President Macky Sall (Senegal), President Paul Kagame (Rwanda), President Cyril Ramaphosa (South Africa) and Ag. President Parmasivum Pillay Vyapoory (Mauritius).
President Xi is accompanied by various high ranking officials from China, including First Lady Peng Liyuan, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and top officials from the Communist party of China.
The BRICS Summit is scheduled to take place between July 26 and 27.
Ahead of that Summit, Chinese Ambassador to South Africa, Lin Songtian, said he was proud of the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Apart from President Xi, Russia’s leader Vladimir Putin is also expected in Johannesburg to attend the Forum, which also includes India and Brazil.
