Manchester United loss gifts City early PL title

Read < 1 minute

Manchester City are the English Premier League Champions.

The Citizens won the coveted title without breaking a sweat after Manchester United lost 1-0 to relegation threatened West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Albion found the sole goal courtesy of Jay Rodriguez in the 73rd minute.

The loss means second placed Manchester United – who have 71 points – cannot catch City – who currently have 87 points – with five games still to play.

The Citizens have now won three PL titles in the last seven seasons, more than any other club in that period.

They have dominated this year’s title race, scoring 93 goals and losing just twice so far.

City were on course to with the title in their game against Manchester United on 7 April at the Etihad Stadium, but let slip a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2.

This is City’s second trophy this season, after beating Arsenal to the Carabao Cup on 25 February.

The Pep Guardiola side however lost out on the possibility of winning a third trophy after they were dumped out of the UEFA Champions League by Liverpool.
