U.N. urges Kenya’s leaders to promote peace, avoid violence
Despite Odinga’s claims of irregularities, Kenya has been hailed for holding peaceful elections. The United Nations has urged Odinga and Kenyatta to avoid stoking tensions after the vote.
Stephane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the U.N. Secretary-General said in a statement: “The High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, today commended the peaceful voting in the presidential election in Kenya, but he urged Kenya’s political leaders to take the responsible path and exercise their leadership to avoid violence.”
