Cameroon stunned to a draw by Burkina Faso in first AFCON game
Burkina Faso snatched a late equalizer against Cameroon to earn a valuable point in their first AFCON match on Saturday.
Cameroon went ahead in the 35th minute through a captain Benjamin Moukandjo free-kick, but could not hold on to the win.
Burkina Faso’s Dayo headed home from close range after a goal mouth scramble from a free kick in the 75th minute, then clung on to see the game end in a draw.
Cameroon wasted a few chanced to double their lead after they had gone ahead, and could not find a way to turn their possession into a goal.
The result means all teams in Group A are tied on a point each, all with a single goal.
Hosts Gabon had earlier settled for a draw against debutants Guinea-Bissau.
Cameroon’s next game will be against Guinea-Bissau on Wednesday.
