Online platform GoMyWay helping Nigerians tackle traffic and fuel shortage

Read < 1 minute

A rideshare service GoMyWay is offering Nigerians some relief from high fuel prices after months of scarcity. It is a car-pool platform that connects travelers with drivers going along the same route.

“What we get on the platform is, a lot of people are coming from mainland and going to the island. It is a no brainier even if you don’t work in GoMyWay you would know that. But some of them are coming from the same place, the same estate and they are going to the same place in VI (Victoria Island). Why are you all going in your different cars? You live in the same estate, why not go together?” says Damilola Teidi, GoMyWay co-founder.

“By the time you have five cars merging into one, that means you have taken four cars away from the road. If it becomes like a main stream idea, that is what you keep getting. So there is a video of even how that works and how that can help reduce traffic congestion and once you reduce traffic congestion, you also reduce the amount of carbon emissions in the atmosphere. So we are talking cleaner environment,” he continues to explain.

GoMyWay has invested over 50,000 dollars into the business. The founders want the platform to grow before charging a certain percentage from registered car owners. Payment for now is being done in cash straight from the passenger to the car owner.
