US Officials warn of potential for further attacks in Sahel region

American officials are warning of the potential for further terrorist attacks on civilian targets within or close to the Sahel region.

Such threats of increased militancy are spurring efforts to increase U.S. military cooperation with many African states, willing to house U.S. forces and receive training and intelligence.

But the ramped up presence of the American military is again raising questions about an imbalance in President Obama’s overall approach to the continent.
